Using the Contains Condition with Workgroups Portal Quick Searches
Share
INFORMATION
When conducting Quick (Sidebar) Searches, the search routine will attempt to
match the search query with the database field values described above using a
"Starts with" condition. For example, if there were a Job in the
database with the name "Wellness and Fitness Brochure", the search
term "Well" would return a result for the Job. However, the search
term "ness" would not return a result for the Job even though the
characters "ness" are used twice in the Job name.
Use of the asterisk character ("*") is permitted in the Sidebar
Search. If used alone, it will return all records of the selected record type.
If used at the start of a search string, it will cause the search to be
conducted by a "contains" condition instead of a "starts
with" condition. For example, if there were a Job in the database with the
name "Wellness and Fitness Brochure", the search term
"*ness" would return a result for the Job since the characters
"ness" are contained in the Job Name. Asterisks are not allowed to be
used as wildcards encapsulated by search text. For example, if there were a Job
in the database with the name "Wellness and Fitness Brochure", the
search term "w*llness" would not return any results.
